Reporting to the Head of Finance this is a great opportunity for a qualified and experienced finance professional to get involved in a newly established Dublin team within the XLCatlin Global network.
The role will require a proactive and dynamic individual to work with colleagues primarily based in London and India. The core responsibilities include the preparation and delivery of regulatory & statutory financial statements.
However there are also opportunities to engage with other XLCatlin functions to deliver upcoming XLCatlin or Insurance industry specific initiatives (i.e. Brexit & IFRS17).

What will your essential responsibilities include?
Be responsible for the preparation of Solvency II reports which will involve a high degree of planning, review, assessment of existing gaps and assumptions for senior management within predefined timelines.
Be engaged in the preparation of Quarterly Solo QRTs for submission to the PRA (CBI post re-domicile) and provide relevant commentary for senior management team
Support manager in ensuring compliance with international regulatory requirements such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and the Solvency II Directive
Work with the manager in providing technical guidance to the business for the SII PIII implications.
Maintain the regulatory reporting timetables, ensuring local operations requirements are effectively integrated with the group reporting processes.
Review of audit files and supportive workings for interim and full year regulatory audit reviews provided to the External and Internal Auditors.
Manage queries from both internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure group accounting policies are consistently and effectively applied as far as permitted by local accounting standards.
Monitoring of developments in accounting standards and implementation of changes to policies, processes and controls to ensure continued compliance with accounting standards and other relevant reporting guidelines
Monitoring of core controls such as balance sheet reconciliations across Financial Control and Shared Services to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information.
Play a supporting role in ensuring Legal entity oversight and governance
Liaise with different parties including Actuarial, Enterprise Risk Management, Underwriting and Claims as necessary.
Assist the manager with ad hoc tasks as necessary (including projects such as Brexit and IFRS 17).

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills :
Education / Qualifications / Experience
University degree in any discipline
Professional Accountancy Qualification
Relevant, meaningful post-qualification relevant experience gained working within general (re) insurance technical accounting / reporting areas
Skills and Abilities :
Good spoken & written communication & interpersonal skills; ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
Production of timely, accurate and reliable financial information;
Ability to manage time, work to tight deadlines, prioritise and adapt to changing requirements
Strong Accounting knowledge (USGAAP, IFRS and UK / Irish GAAP), having grasp of overall Financial Statements (P&L and BS)
Experience with Solvency II reporting is preferred.
Strong analytical skills, with an inquisitive attitude and attention to detail
Ability to maintain a strong and robust control environment , i.e. ensure ledger numbers are reconciled to external sources with explanations supporting reconciling differences
Able to remain focused and proactive in working towards deliverables with the confidence to challenge managers and colleagues, on the accuracy of both financial and non-financial information.
Ability to take a step back i.e. to understand the results of their own work to ensure they make sense in a business sense and to ensure accuracy
Knowledge of an ERP package (particularly PeopleSoft & HFM) is preferable
