Dublin Simon Community works to prevent and address homelessness and provides services at all stages of homelessness to enable people to move to a place they can call home.
Dublin Simon Community has been awarded the Excellence Through People accreditation for the past 3 years. This standard is achieved by organisations that have best practice Human Resource Systems in place, particularly in the area of staff training and development, communication, and staff involvement in the decision making processes in the organisation.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Physical Activity, Health and Wellbeing Project Worker , whose role is to support people who use our services to improve their wellbeing through arts, exercise, nutrition and involvement.
Working in a professional role and environment, core responsibilities include :
Supervision of Full time volunteers in the Health and wellbeing service & manage Part Time Volunteers who volunteer their time to enhance the programme e.
g. physiotherapists, yoga instructors and so on.
Supporting and mentoring of client CE engagement workers in the service.
Work closely with manager to develop scorecards and strategies for the service.
Support client volunteers to share their skills across the Health and Wellbeing service.
Coordinate the QQI level 3 in Health & Fitness.
Develop the relationship with CDETB delivering QQI accredited courses.
Expand the repertoire of events and sporting challenges that clients engage in.
Develop and mentor the football team involving them in external tournaments.
Develop a plan to work towards Healthy Ireland outcomes and develop partnership with Healthy Ireland.
Expansion of the H&Wellbeing service by recruitment of part time volunteers to deliver Health and Wellbeing activities.
Work in conjunction / partnership with fundraising on the promotion and media around the Health and Wellbeing Centre, on events and on grant applications.
Organise participation at the Annual Simon cup on behalf of Dublin Simon
Assist with other Participation and Development events as required
Complete reports as required - CEO updates, scorecard status reports, funding proposals and progression reports, project reports and evaluation reports in conjunction with the Participation and Development Manager.
Maintain and update filing systems and databases
About You :
A recognised third level qualification to at least diploma level in one of the following disciplines : social worker, social care, community development, social policy or social studies.
Qualification in sports, health and nutrition.
Understanding of why and how people become homeless and the needs they have in order to exit their situation out of homelessness
Experience of working with disadvantaged groups.
Good active listening, assessment, engagement and feedback skills
Work in the best interests of clients
Promote clients’ choice, development, independence, health and well being
