The highways team provides services from initial appraisal & master planning to detailed design and supervision for a wide spectrum of highways, LRT, utilities, drainage & external works projects.

We are currently involved with a broad range of clients & schemes including :

  • Transport Infrastructure Ireland
  • Local Authority Frameworks
  • N25 New Ross Bypass
  • Various Statnet Projects, Norway
  • Binge Station, Copenhagen, Denmark
  • New Orbital Highway & Truck Route Project Contract 3, Doha, Qatar
  • Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit Project

    What’s in a day?

    As Highway Engineer you could be working on highways, LRT, rail civil, drainage and utilities projects. You will be expected to take technical responsibilities, promote a collaborative approach & assist in delivering projects to quality, budget and timescales.

    Project teams could be located in different Mott MacDonald offices world-wide. The role carries a high degree of autonomy and responsibility.

  • As a Highway Engineer, you will be responsible for;
  • Assisting in the planning, design and implementation of highway / infrastructure projects;
  • Promoting & ensuring adherence to H&S policy & procedures;
  • Providing specialist technical leadership on certain element of the overall project;
  • Preparing and managing work packages to deliver to deadlines;
  • Developing client relationships;
  • Contributing to bid proposals and submissions;
  • Compliance with corporate governance processes;
  • Developing BIM capability;
  • Assisting in development of the business;
  • Assisting the Project Manager to with resources and monitoring budgets.

    Be a technical expert

  • Degree qualified in civil engineering (level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent professional qualification in engineering);
  • Chartered Engineer IEI or ICE (Preferable but at least working towards Chartership);
  • Demonstrable record (4 years +) of successfully designing and delivering highways & infrastructure projects to UK Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) or Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Standards;
  • including for a period of not less than two years, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work;
  • Technical in-depth experience in one or more of highways, drainage, utilities, BIM including design, specification and construction documentation;
  • Experience of assisting in the monitoring of project programmes, costs and resources ensuring delivery to time and budget;
  • Supported preparation of fee proposals and bid submissions;
  • IT and standard industry software skills, including knowledge of BIM and AutoCad Civil 3D or similar;
