Zurich Life Ireland (ZLAP) is looking for a to work primarily on our Life400 and Zlife policy administration systems. They will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving application issues to ensure optimal performance and usability for system users and providing root cause analysis with recommendations for improvements.

They will also be accountable for the scheduling of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly operations tasks required for the ongoing functionality of the software applications.

Programming and debugging skills will be required as well as the ability to develop queries / reports of varying complexity and to troubleshoot and fix programmatic issues.

The Team

The Production Support team maintains and supports production applications within Zurich Life.

The team works closely with internal Zurich teams, both within IT and the business, as well as external support partners to ensure optimum system availability and supporting our business users and customers.

The diverse nature of the work and activities require that we occasionally work beyond normal business hours to ensure time critical deadlines are met.

Support for nightly batches and weekend availability cover is required on a rota basis (with appropriate remuneration).

Our developing IT infrastructure has introduced new technologies into our landscape with new third party service providers.

There are opportunities to learn how these new technologies sit with our traditional applications as we manage and support the business by providing level 2 and 3 support as part of incident management.

Your Role

As a Production Support Technical Analyst your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following :

Handle day-to-day issues including daily health checks of applications and processes, working closely with end users, development staff and Infrastructure teams, to prioritise and resolve tickets or provide work arounds.

Monitor activities / processes of production to ensure timely and effective reporting, tracking, follow-up and communication of problems to internal and external clients, technical resources and management.

Own incidents and problems and work to get to detailed root cause analysis and suggest workarounds and / or solutions for recurring issues.

  • Implement continuous process improvement, including but not limited to policy, procedures and production monitoring.
  • Your Skills and Experience

    As a Production Support Technical Analyst your skills and qualifications will include :

    Technical Competencies

    Technical knowledge of Life400 and ZLife policy administration applications.

    Knowledge of Smart and developing in CL and COBOL.

    Knowledge of iSeries & Software Management standards.

    Strong software development and debug / troubleshooting skills.

    Strong knowledge of writing queries and using SQL.

    Ability to research, analyse and fix repeated issues.

    Ability to create and maintain technical and support related documentation.

  • Demonstrate sound analytical and diagnostic skills dealing with issues that are not readily defined and / or conflict with available information, with ability to reach decisions quickly.
  • Non-Technical Competencies

    Strong interpersonal skills with ability and confidence to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external teams and users.

    Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adjust to suit target audience at technical and business levels.

    Ability to work independently and as part of team, setting high standards for quality and quantity.

    Excellent attention to detail and a tenacity to complete tasks fully.

    Good organisational and planning skills, able to cope with varying workloads and competing priorities.

    Proactive, enthusiastic with a hunger for excellence, possessing a can do attitude, which can identify problems, take ownership and provide solutions.

    Possess trouble-shooting skills and be driven to help internal / external customers

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience supporting software applications.
  • Additional Information

    Primary work location is Blackrock, Co. Dublin. Position is Dublin-based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.

    Some out of hours’ work will form part of this role and this may be managed remotely.
