IT Services (ITS) manages day-to-day IT infrastructure service delivery for Zurich on a global scale, in partnership with both our internal customers and our external suppliers and in accordance with contract requirements, SLAs and internal agreements.

The Dublin Service Centre is one of the global Hubs for ITS, that provide a key internal central service management capability with an emphasis on integrated end-

to-end service and global follow-the-sun’ delivery. Technical Assurance (TA), within ITS, provides IT infrastructure advisory & support services, acting as a bridge between suppliers, internal IT Partners, the external market and internal customers.

TA’s primary objectives are to ensure continued quality of service delivery, optimal usage of infrastructure resources, and efficient delivery of projects from a technical perspective, and full exploitation of all new market driven opportunities.

The role of the is to ensure that both existing and new infrastructure services are fully standardized, optimized for both price and performance, and that they are closely aligned to the overall Enterprise Architecture that has been agreed with the Zurich business.

In addition to this Governance role, it is also expected that the TA will provide proactive support based upon best practice and industry experience.

Furthermore and when necessary, the TA will provide reactive operational assistance to support the restoration of services that may have failed or seen to be operating sub-

optimally. Your Role As a Technical Assurance Consultant your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following :

  • Work closely with global internal and external partner functions technical assurance team, enterprise architects, transformation teams, regional business units, suppliers, to ensure that the agreed infrastructure architecture is implementable and remains fit for purpose at all times
  • Review new major projects to ensure that maximum use is made of standardised solutions and that all infrastructure is cost effective and operationally ready
  • Regularly review existing platforms and recommend improvements, as necessary, to promote standardisation and more optimal usage of infrastructure resources
  • Engage with project teams to support and provide SME input to the design of new services and solutions - ensuring operability in the production environments and adherence to technical standards and policies
  • Provide signoff for new solutions as part for the Transition and Change Management processes
  • Support the workings of the Technology Standards Council (TSC) in driving standards adoption and product currency across all platforms
  • Provide support as needed in response to operational incidents
  • Actively drive service delivery improvements with external partners / suppliers
  • Your Skills and Experience As a Technical Assurance Consultant your skills and qualifications will include :

  • University degree in Computer Science / System Architectures or equivalent experience, developed over an extended period
  • 10+ years’ in depth experience working in an IT architecture or Platform Engineering role; five of which should have been at a senior level
  • An in depth working knowledge of the following infrastructure technologies - IBM iSeries (AS400) and IBM pSeries Platform.
  • Knowledge and experience of other technologies advantageous amongst the following categories Networking, Virtualisation, Databases (SQL, DB2, Oracle), Public Cloud, Disaster Recovery, HA, Backup, Wintel, Linux
  • Supplier Management skills (ITIL certification is a plus)
  • Proven experience of working within a large global or regional organisation within a multi-national company
  • Proven experience of working within a supplier lead service delivery model
  • Recent exposure to IT infrastructure services within the Financial Services industry
  • Additional Information Primary work location is Blackrock, Dublin. Position is Dublin-based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
