Purpose of Job

Working as a member of a Corporate Pensions Administration Team with responsibility for providing pension accounting services for corporate clients with Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Schemes.

The role is suitable for someone with practice / audit or pension background who wishes to acquire new skills and career opportunities.

As a team leader, you will be responsible for meeting a monthly rolling schedule of objectives including weekly team reviews, developing skills within the team and managing workload.

You will also be expected to maintain and develop your own knowledge of pension schemes and relevant Accounting standards.

Principle Responsibilities include :

  • Be a point of reference on technical issues and non-standard cases.
  • Must be able to work to a high level of accuracy.
  • Monitor own workflow and that of junior associates to ensure service levels are achieved.
  • Take the lead in more complex / project work when required.
  • Build and maintain technical, procedures and client knowledge through experience.
  • Challenge procedures to identify process improvements and pass on recommendations to Administration Manager.
  • Work with the TAS Finance Manager to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs e.g. automation, full use of standard procedures.
  • Ensure team members are fully informed of : Current events.Procedural changes.Benefit changes.
  • Understand your role in the team and understand the roles of others in the team.
  • Encourage teamwork by sharing knowledge, ideas and solutions.
  • Contribute to associate training and development.
  • Manage the junior associates to make sure that work is dealt with efficiently and within deadlines.
  • Be responsible for the team members' performance reviews.
  • Assist with recruitment and selection process.
  • Hold weekly team meetings and daily team huddles.
  • Ensure an efficient, professional service is provided to meet all client / members' needs and to promote the brand.
  • On an on-going basis be the principal contact the client, and maintain and develop client relationships.
  • Communicate effectively with Auditors / relevant stakeholders via the telephone, remembering each caller will have a different level of understanding.
  • Develop good written communication skills to deal with more complex queries and requests.
  • Ensure all communications are dealt with within defined quality and service standards.
  • Analyse areas where the service to Auditors / relevant stakeholders could be improved and put forward recommendations to Manager as appropriate.
  • Gather and analyse individual complaints received and produce report for Manager.
  • In conjunction with the Manager, ensure that all delivery promises and performance standards are achieved.
  • Ensure Guides are kept up to date.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of all work in time recording system.
  • Ensure all work is logged out of Workflow correctly for billing purposes.
  • Identify in advance with Manager nonstandard events through work planning to ensure all work is charged, in particular, requests and projects outside the agreed fee basis.
  • Liaise with Manager on resourcing, workflow and client expectations.
  • Display good time management skills and demonstrate ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Demonstrate commitment by ensuring that targets and deadlines are met.
  • Reviewing and analysing relevant financial data to be used as a basis for the preparation of Trial balance for Pension Fund Accounts.
  • Case management of pension fund account audits end to end through the audit and trustee signoff process for schemes under your portfolio.
  • Report on the financial position of the scheme and the results of its operations to trustees and the Pensions Authority in accordance with generally accepted accounting practice, statute and client instructions.
  • Adherence to internal controls within the Fund Accounts department.
  • MIS and reporting on audit management
  • Meeting agreed service standards and adherence to internal procedures so as to provide a consistent and proactive client service to the highest standards.
  • Ensuring that we comply with all Pension Act and the Central Bank of Ireland compliance requirements.
  • Participate in training programmes.
  • Approval and oversight of cash management for a MiFID regulated conglomerate Bank account.
  • Daily review of Mifid Conglomerate account reconciliations

    The Requirements

  • The candidate should demonstrate a substantial knowledge and understanding of accountancy procedures, with the ability to work accurately and in a detailed manner to meet strict deadlines.
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexible approach to the job as required and provides support in helping to meet deadlines or take on additional responsibilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills, works and interacts well with people from various levels of the business i.e. Senior Management & Administrators within Willis, Finance and Human Resource Managers of Clients and , External Audit Companies and Fund Trustees.
  • Previous experience with pension scheme audits would be an advantage.
  • Significant and proven experience dealing with DC and DB occupational schemes, Central Bank requirements in relation to client assets.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • A strong understanding of Microsoft Office programmes, in particular Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Sun an advantage
  • Qualifications .

  • Qualified Accountant.
  • Progression in QFA desirable
