POSITION OVERVIEW This is a technical position and will involve the successful applicant working with laboratory analysts to ensure that all software systems and analytical equipment are maintained in a validated status and compliant to various regulatory guidelines (e.
g. ISO17025). The incumbent will perform first-in-line trouble shooting of equipment and as such is expected to have a deep understanding of all laboratory equipment & software systems.
In addition, it is expected that the incumbent will play a key role in driving the longer-term laboratory excellence plan to enable the laboratory to meet its key business objectives, by identifying opportunities to simplify and reduce testing, automate operations, eliminate manual transcription and set and enforce clear and unambiguous standard work.
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES + Ensure analytical equipment is maintained in a validated state and compliant with Quality standards (e.
g. ISO17025) + Conducting preventative maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting for analytical equipment + Advising on equipment validation plan drafts and reviewing validation reports + Maintain Obsolescence log and draft RFAs for new equipment + Global analytical equipment contact for Ballina + Ensure best practice through training of associates of equipment usage + Contacting third party service providers and arranging site visits + Maintain cutting edge knowledge of new analytical equipment & advise management on strategy EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS + Third level degree (preferably MSc or equivalent) in Chemistry or analytical science PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE The candidate will have a minimum of 5 years in analytical laboratory experience in an ISO17025 accredited facility and be familiar with all types of analytical instruments found in a QA lab including Ion Chromatography, High Performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography and Mass Spectrophometry.
Demonstration of ability to conducting preventative maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of analytical equipment would be a distinct advantage COMPENTENCIES / SKILLS : As this is a highly technical role, core competencies would include : + Deep understanding of complex analytical instruments + Interpretation and analyses of data + Scientific design of testable hypothesis + Broad understanding of Statistical analyses and Control charts + Ability to critically analyse new technologies + Coaching and mentoring skills + Negotiations skills TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Occasionally (5%) may be required to travel particularly other Commercial Product Supply (CPS) sites.
