Software Engineer drives the software Improvement projects for the Limerick R&D office focusing on semiconductor New Product Development across the Computing and Automotive industries.

Interfaces with all groups internally to help drive efficiencies and reduce time to market.Responsible for all stages of the software life cycle, from requirements gathering, design, development, documentation, deployment, support and maintenance.

Promotes software development best practice across the company, staying in touch with industry best practice and applies this to new projects.

Develops and manages internal NPD systems (Bug Trackers, Risk Registers, etc) on SharePoint. Provides support and advice to internal teams on how best to use off the shelf software tools to fit their use cases.

Mentorship with experienced engineers offered and CPD encouraged.


  • BEng in Electronic / Computer Engineering, or associated discipline required (MEng a plus), with minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in the areas of software development or a similar domain.
  • Experience with mixed signal semiconductor IC development an advantage.

  • Experience across a broad range of software languages and tools a distinct advantage, including but not limited to : LabVIEW, C, C++, C#, Verilog, Python.
  • A demonstrated deep knowledge of one of these languages is required.

  • Knowledge of Sharepoint web systems, developing and maintaining systems, including custom libraries and workflows is a requirement for this role.
  • Practical experience in product electrical or electronic design / measurement would be an advantage for this role.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to independently problem solve.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present data and status updates articulately and concisely, and the ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong Team Player with leadership capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver timely results, meeting and exceeding the extremely high quality standards that are required in the automotive field.
  • A knowledge and experience of Version Control Software and the principles that apply are an advantage for this role.
  • Knowledge of a sysadmin role, and Windows / Unix server systems is an advantage.
