The primary remit of the Legal Entity Risk Office (LERO) is toensure all Legal Entity governance bodies have the necessary risk informationand advice required for effective riskmanagement, issue analysis and strategic decision making.

The LERO team are a second line of defenceteam who provide oversight and challenge to the Legal Entities, maintainingeffective dialogue with a wide range of stakeholders across the BNYM in orderto deliver a series of Legal Entity focused continuous improvement riskmanagement projects, as well as ensuring high quality routine and ad hoc riskreporting and analysis.

Provides delivery of significantrisk function BAU processes and delivers change and risk-remediation projectsacross the region.

Oversees and manages risk governance and reporting.

The individual in role will workclosely with, and support the Ireland Chief Risk Officer in ensuring theeffective application and oversight of the BNY Mellon operationaland enterprise risk management framework and developing supporting processesand tools across the legal entities, lines ofbusiness and business partners in Ireland (all locations).

PositionSummary :

Responsible for the ongoing independent oversight and challenge ofday-to-day risk management activities, client, product and process change riskassessments and risk reporting for an assigned business line / entity risk facinga high level of risk.

Advises and assist the assigned business line with theevaluation of their existing processes and uses a high level of knowledge ofrisks that commonly arise to appropriately direct the business line'sactivities to address any control gaps.

Uses strong familiarity with theassigned business line to anticipate, assess, monitor and report onoperational, fiduciary, reputational, business and strategic risks inherent tothe assigned business line

  • Development of regional enterpriserisk and operational risk management frameworks, supporting processes andtools.
  • Deliver effective risk oversightto EMEA legal entities.
  • Provide effective governance andoversight, eg for regulatory initiatives and audit findings.
  • Provide effective risk managementinformation reporting at a regional level.
  • Deliver oversight for BAU Riskfunction operational and significant Risk function change and remediation,leading, project managing and overseeing delivery of key initiatives
  • Directs the assigned businessunit's compliance with the Operational Risk Management Framework byidentifying, assessing and mitigating risks, identifying emerging issues,contributing to the development of processes and controls to manage risks,monitoring the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment, remediatingdeficiencies, monitoring and challenging business activities and enforcingbusiness line awareness of and adherence to the risk management framework.
  • Independently develops reporting on outputs of risk managementactivities completed. May assign reporting activities to more juniorprofessionals.
  • All reporting adheres to established policies and procedures.

  • Ensures the assigned business line's appropriate completion of allsteps involved in the identification of possible risks during the creation ormodification of new products and processes and all non-standard businessacceptance events.
  • Recommends modifications to reduce implementation risk anduses strong influence with business line management to ensure compliance, riskand control documentation and notification of all appropriate representativesand regulators.

  • Working in close partnership withthe legal entity Boards and Management Committee, delivering on all regulatoryobligations relating to risk management, including participation in workinggroups associated with regulatory inspections, preparation of materials inrespect of regulatory inspections, and management Risk Mitigation Programme andother remedial deliverables where necessary.
  • Ensure that appropriate and timelyaction / plans are implemented and monitored regarding significant issuespertaining to the Ireland Risk Function, identified by Compliance, Internal andthe External Auditors, internal control testing, Legal and regular riskreporting.
  • Risk Culture : Promote a strongrisk culture within the first line of defence.
  • Uses established workingrelationships with the Risk Management, Compliance and Audit teams and membersof the business line team to ensure timely completion of risk-relateddeliverables, issue resolution and implementation of improvements.
  • Responsiblefor appropriately escalating issues to the Risk and Compliance management team.

  • Ability to influence stakeholdersat all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal andrelationship management skills.
  • Proven ability to deliverprogrammes of work including the production of risk reports and analysis.
  • Proven ability to present togovernance forums on risk matters.
  • Excellent problem-solving andanalytical abilities.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or theequivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 10-12 years of total work experience preferred.Business Analytics or Risk, Financial or Regulatory Reporting backgroundpreferred
